Sibling DNA

General Information

DNA Sibling diagnostic testing provides information to parties interested in establishing sibling genetic relationships, including brother/sister, brother/brother, and sister/sister relations.

Various methods of analysis are utilized to establish sibling genetic relatedness. Standard STR microsatellite methods utilizing hypervariable microsatellite regioning produces highly accurate answers. Through the information obtained from analyzing selected microsatellite loci, the sibship index can be calculated. The frequency of shared alleles determines sibship idices which informs the parties of the probability that the pair is or is not siblings.. In depth analysis may include mitochondrial DNA analysis for parties in which paternity is not of issue, and Y Chromosome STR for parties in which maternity is not of issue.
